Enhance your book club experience
If sharing a meal or food is part of your meeting, why not prepare one of the recipes on this site, or in the back of the book? Alternatively, prepare one of your own favorite Italian dishes to share with your friends.
Do a wine tasting with one or two Tuscan wines. Your selection might include:
- Vernaccia di San Gimignano
- Vermentino
- Chianti
- Chianti Classico
- Rosso di Montalcino
- Rosso di Montepulciano
- Brunello di Montalcino
- Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Discuss the different designations Tuscan wines may carry: DOCG, DOC, IGT, or Super Tuscan.
If one of your members has visited Italy or Tuscany, have them bring their own pictures and experiences to share with the group.
Have your book club plan an imaginary visit to Tuscany, with each member discussing which town or city in To Tuscany with Love intrigued them most.
If you are discussing To Tuscany with Love, you may choose to share some of your own memorable college or high school reunion stories. Bring a photo of your graduating class to share—everyone loves to smile and chuckle at photos from the past.
If you are discussing It Happened in Tuscany, you can share stories of World War II veterans you know. You can also discuss how the United States ski industry was influenced by the “soldiers on skis” of the 10th Mountain Division.
